Quiet start to the week leading us in towards and early start at 7:30am on the dot!
•A call for a collapsed crow, unfortunately it was so unwell the kindest thing to do was to have it put down to end the suffering.
•Next case came in for a poorly hedgehog in need of observation and an internal parasite check which we then kept a close eye on.
•Followed by a crash landed swan, advice was given then happily returned to water.
•Finishing off with a call for serious injured fox in Ipswich. Tracey attended this one to catch and take to the vets as it was in a very critical condition.
…All this back to back before we came to realise that it was Wednesday and we are meant to be closed!! To say there is no extent our team will go to for the sake of wildlife is an understatement, but we are seriously thinking about getting Gill a tattoo to remind her of our own opening hours.
•Later in the week we saw a badger cub (see cover image)with an open puncture wound on head in bad shock, we warmed it up then took it to the wildlife hospital for a precautionary head X-ray. Volunteers were sent to scout the set location for any sign of other cubs.
Ending the week on 2 hopeful high notes;
•We managed to find a suitable home for the 33 doves all together so they were transported and settled in! (see cover image for a look at their new home)
•In true one-out-one-in fashion, we now have a hand reared duck in need of a home (see cover image). Raised by and elderly gent, who has sadly passed away, this mallard is unable to fly due to angel wing and has never experienced a pond or other ducks/animals-safe to say he loved a little splash in our pool. If you or anyone you know could provide this guy a safe and secure home please get into contact with us directly.
